The Headboard

We found it! We found it!

Just what we were looking for...an upholstered headboard.
Sorry again for the picture, another camera phone classic. (my camera is dead and ive been really lazy about charging it) and no that is not an angel or ghost in the corner, it's our bedroom light.

It looks soo much better in person and with our new bedding it really pops! add a little silver sage or atmosphere blue paint and it will be great! So over as my mom says "apartment white" paint.

I'm so happy with our purchase. I love the fact of how tall it is. Our mattress is pretty thick and we were running into finding headboards that once you put your pillows up you wouldn't see the headboard, which completely defeats the purpose of a headboard.

So bedroom is finished!!

Lost in the Hallway {Part 2}

Ikea was a huge success this past weekend. My favorite purchase were the frames I bought for our "lost in the hallway" experience at the condo.

Unfortunately, I took this with my phone because i forgot my camera so it's not the best pic and I was literally laying everything out in the store. I got a few stares but wanted to make sure i was creating a good wall! We ended up adding a few more 5x7s and another 4x6. I have a few pictures in mind but excited to go through some really old ones and get some "classics" framed.

I can't wait to share with you what we found at Pottery Barn ! I bet you can guess it...

Everyday

I have been looking at buying some new everyday dinnerware and have fallen in love with a couple patters - I loved this Lenox pattern

and also really liked this from World Market

Since I really didn't NEED it, I was planning on asking it for my birthday or Christmas but then...

I went to TJ Maxx!

I love love love this store! I scored a huge find this weekend and I am super excited about my purchase.

Take a Look... It's actually my favorite out of the three and I got dinner plates, salad plates, bowls, and coffee cups for 1/2 the price of the two above!

Sideboards

This past weekend Andy and I were on a mission....for an antique chest for our guest bedroom. We currently have my parents old iron bed in there that my mom bought from an antique store when she was 16. However the chest that I had bought originally for this room is now in our bedroom.

So Saturday morning the hunt began. I can't say that Andy LOVES antiquing, but he doesn't mind it. As long as we grab a good lunch he is good to go! I am so thankful that he goes with me. We searched and searched and I couldn't find anything that said "take me home", well except a sideboard.

I tried to convince myself and Andy that it could work in the guest bedroom until we have a dining room to move it in. I knew it would look a little out of place, but I am still thinking about it! Mom always says if it says "take me home" than you better get it, (if you can afford it) because you will probably regret it. Well, maybe next time. For now I keep checking the antique store website to see if it's still there. We may just have to have a sideboard in our guest room for a while...

A Columbus Visit

Andy’s cousin and his wife Kelly from Baton Rouge are coming for a visit next weekend! They are our first visitors! We are so excited to spend some time together and to show them around town!

Here are a few things we have planned for the weekend…

Since they are huge LSU fans, we thought we should show them The Ohio State University stadium, so they can compare a SEC stadium vs. a Big Ten stadium.

Of course we have several places we would like to take them to eat – Thurman’s for lunch (although if we go there we may not have room for dinner!) Thurman's is located in German village, which is filled with antique shops, Queen Anne style homes, and brick-laden sidewalks and of course more great restaurants! Andy and I have never been to this restaurant, but we would like to go for dessert! It’s called Schmidt’s and “specializes in original German and American dinners, sandwiches, mouth watering desserts, cocktails, and many German and micro brews by the bottle and on tap." Doesn't this cream puff look delicious!!

My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!

Saturday night we will be hanging out in the Arena District and Short North - which is filled with several bars and a great local brewery - The Elevator.

We may even have some time to go to Easton Town Center and do some shopping or I’m thinking a pedicure for Kelly and I and let the boys hang out! I know it will be a fun weekend!

So needless to say, come hungry if you come visit us in Columbus!

Weekend Festivites

Whew...what a weekend! Andy and I had a great time in Nashville over Thanksgiving. We participated in the Boulevard Bolt, visited with family, caught up with friends, had too much to eat, and most importantly me and mom carried on the tradition of Black Friday shopping!!!

When I was little we always had Thanksgiving at my grandparents in Mississippi. Every Friday morning my grandmother and mom would head out early to go shopping. Back then, the stores opened at 6am, now they open at 4am! When I turned 16 I went on my first Black Friday and the tradition began for me and my mom.

Piece of Advice: I highly recommend going with one other person. One to start running, knocking over people (just kidding) to go get the one item(s) that you want, let's say that TV. While the other person has gone to grab the cart or to even go ahead and get in line.

On Thursday night we went through the ads and decided where we wanted to go. We started our adventure at Belk at 4:15am, then headed off to Target, HH Gregg, JCPenny, Joann, back to Belk, and where headed home by 8am.

We had a quick nap and were up again at 10am for Round Two! We headed to Nashville West to go to World Market and Bath & Body Works.

We were both very pleased with our purchases! Belk for me, had the best deals!

I look forward to enjoying this tradition again next year with my mom.
